How does Direct Health Care save me money?

The Direct health care model lets you pay lower health care costs for health care and services provided by a doctor, nurse, dentist, or other healthcare provider in your local area. The costs are lower because your membership fee goes directly and immediately to your doctor and doesn’t need to cover the costs of insurance and medical billing companies or large health systems. Also, since there’s only you to bill (and you will only be willing or able to pay so much, given your other expenses), your doctor has no incentive to raise prices beyond your ability to pay.

Direct Health Care is not insurance, so how does it work?

For a low annual or monthly fee, doctors, dentists, nurses, and community and urgent care clinics give you nearly unlimited access to office, video, text, and/or home visits for affordable, routine, preventive, elective, and non life-threatening care. No co-pay, no deductibles, and most include annual lab tests. A direct health care membership can cover up to 85% of the average person or family’s health care needs. To cover 100%, pair it with a high-deductible plan that covers emergency and hospital costs.

How much will I have to pay?

Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers set their own prices for monthly or annual practice memberships and services. All prices are published on product and service pages.

Will I have to pay more once I visit the doctor?

If you buy a practice membership on Healsbridge, you are purchasing a set of defined services and are only required to pay the listed price for those services. Please the listing carefully and use Healsbridge contact features to ask the provider questions before you buy. You only pay more if, during a visit, you and your provider agree upon services not listed at the time of purchase.

Is my medical information stored on Healsbridge?

No. We won’t ask you specific information about your health. Please only share that information with your healthcare provider.

Is Healsbridge really free to use?

Yes, you don’t pay Healsbridge anything to use our site. You can search, buy, book appointments, and find information free of charge.

Can I use my insurance if I have it?

Yes, some doctors and healthcare providers on Healsbridge do accept health insurance for those who have it and cash payments from those who don’t.

Is Direct Health care available in my state?

There are direct health care practices available in 49 states and laws specifically supporting the model in 37 states.

Can my employer pay for direct health care for me?

Yes, many employers will pay some or all of the direct health care membership fees, especially those who don’t offer health insurance or who pay for their employees’ healthcare costs.
